New Moms Over 40

Meet other families with similar interests while exploring great things to do around the city.  Make new friends, find playdates for your little ones, and discover new resources!

Being a new mom is a life changing experience at any age.  But being a new mom in your 40s has it’s own set of unique challenges.

This group is designed for new moms in their 40s with young children ranging in age from infancy through toddler years.  We will provide many fun and supportive opportunities for moms night out, moms night in (discussion groups), playdates with our kids and much more.

We welcome first time (or second or third…) moms in their 40s, working moms or stay-at-home moms and hope to create a strong community. Look forward to hearing from you!

Meet the Co-Chairs

Sarah Squires-Doyle

I am the proud mom of our little Tessa Rose (born October 2010).  My husband and I grew up in Lincoln Park Chicago and currently reside in Old Town.  At present, I'm still taking a break from my health consulting career and wearing the hat of a stay-at-home mom (SAHM).  I married at 40 and had our baby at 41.  While it's been by far one of the most rewarding times, it's also been one of the most challenging on many levels.  I felt there was a need for a "New Moms over 40" group am grateful to NPN for letting us use their platform to create this new group.  My vision is to build a strong and supportive community that offers a variety of opportunities for us all to connect as mothers and with our kids and families.

My husband and I live in Roscoe Village with our daughter Lauren (born 8-2011).  I have lived in Chicago for the past 20 years and started a small business 9 years ago.   I never thought I would get married at 41 and not have a baby until 43 but am so incredibly blessed to be able to experience marriage and  motherhood at any age.   I look forward to meeting and helping other “40 something moms” connect and share our unique perspective.

Melissa Deroche

After living away from Chicago for many years, in June 2010 I moved back with my husband Steve to be closer to my family. I was 7 months pregnant at the time and 43 years old.  Both marriage and my son Owen arrived in my 40s; two amazing gifts I could never have predicted. I took 16 months off work to be with Owen and have recently relaunched my business as a personal and business coach. I'm thrilled to be part of this new group of women and look forward to building a strong community, making new connections, sharing stories, and forging lasting friendships.
